5 Things to Know Before You Plan Your Wedding

Wedding planning is stressful. You’ll spend hours planning your big day - only to realize there are so many ways to maximize your resources and be less overwhelmed. Here are some of our tips for planning your big day.

  1. Pinterest is Your Best Friend

For some brides, they've had a Pinterest board saved with wedding ideas since they were 15. For others, they start thinking about their wedding vision once they get engaged. When it comes to planning your wedding, you can have so many ideas about how you want that day to look.

Pinterest can bring those ideas to life and give you realistic expectations about what your vision could look like in reality.

Here are some ideas for how Pinterest can help you with planning:

    • table centrepieces

    • signage

    • colour scheme

    • wedding invitations

    • florals

  2. DIY Decorations are Do-Able

Whether you're planning a 30K or 10K wedding, wedding decorations can add up. If you are looking to save money for other aspects of your wedding (photography, catering, etc.) DIY decorations ARE doable.

With the help of Pinterest, YouTube tutorials, and blogs, you can learn how to make pieces like donut walls, balloon arches, and so much more. Sourcing the materials to build these pieces can sometimes be cheaper than a rental.

This is how Sarah and I built our rental collection (coming soon!) that will be available to our clients and their events.

  3. Compare Prices Before Making Decisions

The wedding market is a huge industry. There are so many options when it comes to booking a venue, hiring a caterer, and even selecting your florals. Before you make a decision it's important to establish a budget with your partner and compare the options in your price change. The cost is important but also compare the services and quality of what you are looking for...you want the best value for your special day.

  4. You Can’t Do it Alone

Ladies and gents, whether your partner likes to plan or not, including them in the decision process for your wedding can make things a lot easier — and even build your relationship as you prepare for marriage. Sure, you might disagree on decisions regarding decorations, who to invite or even what to eat, but we believe it's important to work together as a team for your big day because you are going to be a team for life. You don't have to make all the decisions together, but if you are both working towards the same vision and goal, it makes your wedding process that much more memorable.

Even if you want to do as much planning yourself as possible, your day of coordination cannot be done by you! Hiring someone to manage the details of the day will take the stress off you and let you enjoy your day and not have to worry about the details. You can fill out our contact form and get a quote on our day of coordination rate.

  5. Teamwork Makes the Dreamwork

As a bride, it's so easy to get into the mindset that because it's your wedding, you have to plan everything solo. Let us stop you there — you can't. Utilize your bridal party, you asked them to be by your side for a reason - they are there to help and support you, let them help!
