3 Vancouver locations perfect for a proposal
When it comes to getting engaged, there are a lot of spots that capture the natural beauty of British Columbia. Although it’s nice to have a perfectly captured photo to post on Instagram of your engagement, it’s also important to pick a location that means something to you and your significant other. We made a list and narrowed down the top 3 spots perfect to propose at (according to some of our clients), that also capture the beauty of British Columbia. Take a look!
Pitt Meadows Dykes
The Dykes in Pitt Meadows, located in Maple Ridge, BC is a popular spot for proposals and used by many wedding photographers for bridal party photos. The Dykes has a spectacular view of the mountain range located in Golden Ears Provincial Park which is a 20 minute drive from Pitt Meadows. With a vast trail system you can choose a variety of locations to pop the big question.
Last fall, Kairos Events had the privilege to coordinate Bella & Jonas’ wedding, they got engaged at the Dykes in Pitt Meadows and here is what they had to say:
“Hot tip: Take your partner somewhere significant to your relationship to propose. My husband proposed to me in Pitt Meadows, BC, on the dykes. Jerry Sulina Park — the place we met and had our first date. It was such a full circle moment and so simple — but SO perfect. You get a combo of trees and mountains, with TONS of natural light. Doesn’t feel too woodsy or rustic, but can be totally moody with the right lighting. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect spot.”
Alouette Lake
Hannah here, and slightly biased about this next location. For the couple who is obsessed with BC’s misty mountains and walking trails in the pouring rain, Alouette Lake is the perfect location. Located in Golden Ears Provincial Park, this location was where my husband asked me to marry him back in 2021. If you are looking for a more secluded location to propose, this spot is perfect for the fall/winter months when there are less people at the beach. It also has lots of walking trails around the lake which is perfect if you plan to have a photographer secretly capturing your proposal.
Alta Lake, Whistler BC
Alta Lake, located in Whistler is another location that captures the natural beauty of BC. It has secluded spots throughout the lake area, like this one here where Holly & Jeremy got engaged last summer. Alta Lake is a beautiful spot, perfect for that summer proposal you’re thinking about. If you plan on having a photographer capturing your proposal, we recommend scouting out your venue a few days beforehand so you can find that special spot.
“Alta Lake is such an incredible place because there are so many hidden gems and private spots you can find while walking along the lake path. It has the best lake and mountain views while also being the perfect place to share such an intimate moment without the crowds being around. Bonus: there’s bountiful spots for photographers to hide in order to capture your biggest moments!”
